John Tidwell, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. John Tidwell is Opt Health’s Chief Medical Officer. As an orthopaedic trauma surgeon, Dr. Tidwell quickly discovered the lack of emphasis that conventional medicine places on preventing disease. Why treat diseases when we can prevent them altogether?

This insight led Dr. Tidwell to seek out a BHRT L1 certification from the Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine as well as training from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). So when childhood friend Camilo Isaza (Opt Health’s co-founder and CEO) reached out for help with a telehealth platform focusing on men’s wellness and preventive medicine, Dr. Tidwell was immediately on board.

Dr. Tidwell graduated from Georgia Tech at the top of his class with a degree in engineering before discovering and pursuing orthopaedics, a field of medicine that merges engineering with human physiology.

After graduating from the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University in 2008, Dr. Tidwell completed his residency at West Virginia University Hospitals and an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Penn State’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. From 2015 to 2017, Dr. Tidwell served as a clinical instructor of orthopaedic surgery for Community Regional Medical Centers in Fresno, California.

Besides his work as a surgeon, Dr. Tidwell has contributed extensively to research in the field of orthopaedics, with papers appearing in Injury, the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and the American Journal of Orthopaedics. He has also given lectures on his work throughout North America.

In his spare time, Dr. Tidwell pushes the limits of his endurance by competing in marathons and triathlons.

Jeremie Walker, MD, MBA

Opt Health Physician

After a decade of practicing anesthesiology in surgical settings, Dr. Walker realized the importance of connecting with patients earlier in their journey to restore health through natural and preventive means. Like his colleague Dr. Tidwell, Dr. Walker’s medical philosophy turned away from the traditional approach of treating disease to a more progressive philosophy of preventing disease in the first place.

Dr. Walker believes that the best approach to giving patients a more optimized quality of life is to encourage better lifestyle choices and balance declining hormone levels. By following a simple but consistent wellness regimen, patients can age gracefully with the energy, focus, drive, and enthusiasm of a young adult.

Dr. Walker completed his schooling and residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine. He also received a post-graduate MBA from WVU. After completing his residency, Dr. Walker served as the assistant director of anesthesia at Mount Carmel West in Columbus, Ohio, and now practices at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.

More recently, Dr. Walker has contributed to several national publications on health and wellness. He is also an active member of the Academy of Preventive and Innovative Medicine as well as the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) for which he is advancing his education on functional medicine, BHRT, and Peptide Therapy to better serve his patient’s needs. Dr. Walker has a penchant for being on top of the most current and personalized medical interventions.

Dr. Walker practices what he preaches, with an ongoing commitment to functional training, clean eating, and high-quality sleep. In his spare time, he enjoys recreational sports and spending time outside with his dog, Nash.

Anna Fleytman-Pope, DO

Opt Health Physician

Anna Fleytman-Pope, DO, began exploring integrative medicine after practicing as an ER physician for over a decade. While she heard and treated her patients’ complaints, she couldn’t fully help them without the time and space to explore the entire story behind the symptoms. Dr. Fleytman-Pope states, “In the last century, we have taken the human out of the being. Western medicine has produced systems-based physicians who have completely deviated from treating The Whole Human. We follow protocols produced by corporations with financial gains. While there is a place for that for some patients, most suffer as they become part of the process. We are individuals, so healthcare should not be a one-size-fits-all approach.”

Dr. Fleytman-Pope joined the Opt Health team after meeting one of our physicians at a local farmer’s market. In the middle of an integrative medicine fellowship and looking for her next career move, the Opt Health mission of a 360-degree approach to health resonated with her. “Opt Health gives physicians like me time and freedom to truly help. It’s about diving deep into the person in front of you as a way of treatment. It’s about patients having more control, getting to know themselves, and being kind to their bodies. The ultimate goal is to establish a genuine symbiotic doctor-patient relationship that is rewarding for all,” says Dr. Fleytman-Pope.

Dr. Fleytman-Pope’s goal for Opt Health is to empower patients to look within and help them feel like their best selves by learning to listen and care for their bodies as nature intended. All this is possible with more individualized practices in conjunction with modern medicine.

Dr. Fleytman-Pope is board-certified in emergency medicine and a fellow of integrative medicine. She studied at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Arizona’s Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. She enjoys reading, staying active, and exploring cultures through food with her husband and four boys in her spare time. As she puts it, “Living is not just about existing, but about having the full experience, which is why good health is so essential.”
